Every year thousands of people die without making a Will. If you die without a valid Will your money and property may not pass to the people you want it to.
Married couples and Civil Partners should not assume their spouses will receive everything as assets may have to be shared with children. Unmarried partners receive nothing as of right. If you own a house it may have to be sold even if your spouse/partner still lives there.
The reasons you should make a Will, and review a Will at least every 5 years are:
We offer a no obligation initial consultation, with free home or office visits, and evening and weekend appointments available.
Contact us today for advice relating to a new Will or updating an existing Will on 01652 802032, or by email at hello@adeptlaw.co.uk.
Falling ill or becoming incapacitated can happen at any age. Bank accounts may be frozen and bills be unpaid. You can appoint someone to act on your behalf, but if you do not have arrangements in place your family would have to apply to court who would appoint someone to manage your affairs. This could be expensive and time consuming, and may not be the person you would choose.
Adept Law can prepare a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) which allows you to choose someone to act on your behalf should you become incapable of managing your own financial or health matters.
Single LPA £225*
Two LPAs £400*
Four LPAs £600*
*plus £82 OPG fee for each LPA unless fee remission/exemption applies.
If you have business interests it is vital you have a Will determining what happens to the business should you die.
